Today, I found out that the majority of the Seniors I have are extremely weak with TEKS 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3A, 3B, and 3C. So what I did was give the Environmental Stewardship Lecture hitting the data points of my study. I had them explaining in specific what a microgram is in relationship to a gram? What is a deci-liter in relationship to a liter? I gave them a norm like 55 micrograms of Cr over a deci-liter of water. I ask them what that meant? I then gave them one of my graphs over Chromium and I asked them to analyze it? We sang "I Am, I Am The Great Rio Grande" . Tomorrow we will sing the song again and also sing "Are You Gonna Sit Around and Do Nothing". We will analyze the data over Chromium and see if they got their conclusions correct? Even though, we are dealing with lower results from the Mock TAKS Test, I believe we made a lot of progress today. They seemed to have enjoyed the lecture since there was a lot of laughter and a lot of "whoa's". One student asked me if I have ever played with Los Lobos or Santana. He said alot of my Rock-Blues Scientific Songs have influences of them. I told them I was Professor Paul and I don't intend to copy any one style. I told them I've been influenced by hundreds of musical artists. I caught one student wearing a VSU T-Shirt in the hall, and I asked him where he got it. He said another student let him borrow it because he could not afford to buy one. I told him to go on-line and do the other 19 Lectures he did not do last year, and I would give him one. He got excited! He said a third of the school was asking him where he had gotten the T-Shirt ? Three other students came by later in the day and asked me if I had them for sale? I had a great time at KISD today!
